Like many places in Maharashtra, ii have explored on of the place which is very near to City of Dream, Mumbai and City of Wine and grapes Nashik.
What is the place
This place's name is Igatpuri which is also called, The Fog City.
How to reach Igatpuri
The town is approximately 120 Km from Mumbai and approx 40 Km from Nahsik city.
This is a small hill station.
Best time to visit this place
The Best time to visit this place is in Monsoon and winters.
In Monsoon and winters this place is heaven. Whenever you visit this place in monsoon, you will find the complete fog and greenery all around the places.
How to Reach Igatpuri
By road - Its the one of the easiest ways to reach Igatpuri from Mumbai/Pune or Nashik.
Igatpuri is on Mumbai Agra Highway and its approximately 110 Km from Mumbai and 40 Km from Nashik City. SO by car it takes max 2-2.30 Hours to reach Igatpuri.
and from Nashik it takes 40-0 45 Minutes to reach.
By Rail - Rail is also very good option as Igatpuri has a Railway station and all the trains which goes towards Nashik, stops here. As this is a hill station so all the trains which passes from here, has to stop as on Kasara Railway station all the trains gets one more Engine to pull the train till Igatpuri and at Igatpuri, the extra Engine needs to be removed so all the trains stops here.
By Flight - The Nearest Airport is Mumbai and Nashik. You can take a flight till Mumbai and can take a Cab, train or Self Driven car from Mumbai and can reach Igatpuri by Road or by Train.
What to Explore in Igatpuri.
There are many things to explore in here.
Its an Hill station so you can experience the chilling Weather of Igatpuri.
Many forts are there in surroundings like Tringalwadi Fort, Kalsubai, Avandha Fort, Madangad Fort. All the Forts are on Peak of the Mountain, so a very good option for all the trek Lovers. Lot of Trekking lovers visits this places to Experience the thrilling trekking in Especially Monsoon and in Winters. Night Trek is also available for some of the places.
You can visit to Vipassana meditation Center and Dhammagiri. You can visit the Lakes in surroundings.
Also a very good place to visit near Igatpuri which is itself a known destination and you can spend a day or two there. Its name is Bhandardara.
Bhandardara is approximately 45 Km from Igatpuri and is one of the best scenic places in Monsoon and winters. It has a Huge lake and lakeside camping is one of the best experiences any one can take. The Sunset is loveliest sunset i have ever experienced..
And ofcourse you can experience the local food over here.
Igatpuri is good for a family outing, get together with Friends or a day sort of Picnic. It is good for maximum 2 Days as you can cover maximum attractions in igatpuri in 2 days.
If you want to stay for more then its good as this place is mostly pollution free and the
air is so fresh and can experience the Nature.
